Doug is a Toronto dietitian and author working in private practice and consulting. He practices an integrative and holistic approach to nutrition counselling providing science-based guidance on food and diet along with the judicious use of nutritional supplements and natural health products when appropriate.
According to clients, friends and others who he’s worked with, his strength lies in his ability to explain complicated nutrition concepts in plain language which he then puts into everyday practical dietary advice. Putting nutritional issues into perspective and much needed context, he’s able to help individualize a particular topic while keeping the big picture in mind.
Doug is regularly called upon by the media to help make sense of the latest nutrition and food issues and has shared his expertise with Healthy Directions, Glow, Homemakers, Chatelaine, Reader’s Digest, Now Magazine, The National Post, and LeDroit (Ottawa). He’s been a guest on CHCH Television Morning Live and @ Home, CBC Radio, CP24’s Wylde on Health, 680 News and more. He co-authored the book Nutrition for Canadians for Dummies and writes a nutrition column in the Hamilton Spectator.
