I just used the Caloric Requirement Calculator and that gave me a Daily Caloric Requirement of ~3,000 calories per day.

What does this figure mean? Does it mean must consume fewer than 3,000 calories per day to lose weight?

Hi Packmule,
Calorie requirement usually means the number of calories required to maintain your present weight so yes, it would require less calories in the diet to lose weight, 500 calories less per day will lose 1Lb per week.
