Lately I've been seeing Acai Berries popping up everywhere! From drinks to smoothies and now even candy. Supposedly they taste chocolatey so I can't wait to try them! Also, they're loaded with nutrition.

Oh yeah if you go to dreambeancontest.com you can vote to make Acai Berry the newest flavor from Jelly Belly.

Does anyone have any stories or comments to share about Acai Berries?

The only ones I've eaten that tasted chocolaty are the ones the are coated in chocolate! smile.gif

But all kidding aside, they contain polyphenols which are powerful anti-inflammatories. Polyphenols are what gives fruits and veggies their different colors. It's best to get a wide varitey of polyphenols from varied foods. Various foods contain different polyphenols. For example olive oil contains a certain polyphenol that is found in no other food.

Acai berries are great in smoothies! Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to sample them in their natural un-pureed form.

The berries have been described by many as a superfood because of their potent antioxidant properties, which are thought to help prevent certain cancers.

I really like acai berries and drink them in jamba juice all the time.

i'm not sure about the specific quantity of acai that they use but the very first time i tried anything acai was the power bowl at robek's. The 3 dollar juice cartons they have at nature mart aren't half bad either, and have a slight chocolate flavor...
