Hello everyone. I am new here today so a big HELLOOOO to everyone.
My daughter recently had a right sided hemicollectomi due to having crohns.
I now have to make sure she sticks to a liquid diet due to her having a infection and blockage after this op.
Can anyone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me with what to cook her which she will be able to tolerate. She has to stick too a liquid diet. She is only 17 and Its very distressing for me to see her depressed and low. Recipies would be appreiciated asap. Thank you

Hi Leighann,

I am firing from the lip here, I have no experience in treating this problem but I'll suggest a couple of things from a commonsense position.

1. You know your daughters favourite healthy foods, so where possible try to use them.

2. Try making soup from these foods and use a fine strainer (or a series of strainers) to remove solids from the soup.

3.You would need to utilise a wide range of food to make sure she did not miss out on any essential vitamins/minerals for the healing process.

4. Chicken broths could be used ,and perhaps even combined to add flavour to other less flavoursome soups.

5. Obviously you would have consulted a dietitian about this problem, if you haven't you should.

6. You can boil the juices out of any meat and use it the same as any other soup.

7. You could purchase or make yourself soups from seafood products, once again using a very fine strainer.

I am sure HealthCastle staff can help you more here and correct me if I am wrong on any of this, I would like to know the answers to this too.

Cheers and I hope I have helped in some small way. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Due to the nature of her condition. She will today be going back into hospital to be IV Fed.
She is just not keeping anything down.
Nutritionist helped via Build up shakes, soups, and Juices.
Not the nicest thing to have but dislikable too.
Hopefully once The IV is done she will bounce back up again.
Hard when they are not with you to look after them.
Thank you for advice. I have taken note.
