Has anyone ever heard of "urachal mucinous adenocarcinoma"? I have been contacted by someone, via my website, who is looking for related information. They have been diagnosed with this very rare type of cancer, and are looking for any treatment info, etc... I told them that I would look around.

Gloria, Ian, Randy, and others: Do you know of anything, nutritionally, (besides the basics, which we all have discussed) that would be effective against this type of cancer?

Any information, nutritionally, or treatments, etc.. would be helpful. I started a similar discussion on my forum, although it's not really active. If you want to participate, volunteer, etc..., PM me for the link.

Thanks a ton,
David

Hey Rudy,

If I find more info on urachal mucinous adenocarcinoma, I will come back and post.

Good luck!

"Urachal" means that it stems from the urachus. The urachus extends from the umbilical cord to the urinary bladder and is more prominent in the unborn fetus. A few weeks before birth, it narrows to a fibrous band called the median umbilical ligament.

"Mucinous" means it produces mucin, a gelatinous material. Mucinous tumours may be found in different parts of the body, and they are given different, often confusing names, like mucinous cystadenoma, mucinous cystic tumor of borderline malignancy, mucinous or "colloid"carcinoma and mucinous adenocarcinoma. Most of these tumors don't give many initial symptoms, and they are solitary, cystic masses. I would think finding one in the urachus is very rare. They are found slightly more often in women, and patients range in age from 41 to 71 years (mean 58 years). Reported cases vary in aggressiveness from low grade tumors of uncertain malignant potential to high grade adenocarcinomas.

I would think the nutritional recommendations would be the same as applies to any type of cancer.

Hope this helps

Thanks, Achi. I appreciate your taking the time to make this post.

If any of you know of anyone who has experience with this type of cancer, please let me know. My contact (whom I have referred here) is looking for others who have dealt with it.

Thanks again,
David

Hi Rudy,

If I may suggest, and if your contact is comfortable with the idea, encourage them post here. There will be a greater chance of someone replying, either publically or in private, if someone made a post directly.

There are a lot of supportive members on this forum. =D>
