For some reason it occurred to me this morning to google up on flaxseed since I hadn't done a lot of research before developing this recipe/habit, nor had I consulted with my doctor about it. And I now realize I have a couple questions/concerns, esp. since I've truly been eating this almost daily for several years now:
1. I realize now I should have been adding the flaxseed oil after cooking the flaxseed meal rather than stirring it in before cooking in the microwave, since it said heat can break down the flaxseed oil.
My question: *How bad* is it that I've been heating the flaxseed oil? Did I go from something healthful to something neutral? Or have I actually been creating something *harmful* due to the heating?
(when I first started this I thought I'd heard you shouldn't fry with flaxseed oil because overheated/burning oil would be unhealthful, but I didn't think just heating it would be unhealthful. now I'm not sure).
2. I just saw something about a link between flaxseed oil and prostrate cancer.
For this reason, am I wrong to have developed such a habit of eating this *every* day? Is that too much?
(the truth is I'm a single male and this is just a simple/easy recipe for me since I'm lazy
Thanks for your thoughts/insights/advice - a little worried now about what I thought was a health habit.
