Hi Megan McMurray LA Raw Food Examiner,
You don't seem to be able to make up your mind about which food is the worlds best food.
Last visit you were promoting the magical cheese fruit, and I notice on your LA blog you wrote the following
"The goji berry is central to Chinese medicine and has long been associated with longevity and aging gracefully. It is believed that in China a man named Li Qing Yuen was documented to live from 1678 to 1930, which makes him 252 years old. His secret? He ate goji berries every day. It has also been discovered that in the Ningxia Province in China, where the majority of goji berries are grown, lives the highest concentration of centenarians (people who lived past 100 years old) in the whole country. Could be it from the goji berries that most certainly make up a portion of their daily diet?anti-aging, longevity, goji"
You can't be serious, excuse the John McEnroe quote, there are inaccuracies everywhere, for a start the greatest cluster of centenarians is the Okinawan elders, who just happen to be the longest lived people in the world, and guess what, none of them lived to 252 years. Ref. The Okinawan Program, a 25 year study by Drs Makoto Suzuki MD, PhD / Dr Bradley J. Willcox MD, MSc,/ Dr D. Craig Willcox BSc, MSc, PhD - if you like facts it is a good read 417 pages with another 62 pages of references and index..
I am not trying to pick on you Megan but you are in a position where you can influence a lot of gullible people, so I think you should stick more to facts and less to fairy tales. All of these stories about ancients has been proven to be false, none of the records were genuine, this is also in the 25 year research.
I can't find any real proof of what you are saying about the marine phytoplanktons either but that might only be because research has not been done yet, which has to make your claims dubious at best.
I think regulation should be in place to stop people giving health advice as "facts" when they are not qualified to do so.
Cheers
