Stretch marks are often the result of rapid stretching of the skin associated with rapid growth (common in puberty) or weight gain (eg pregnancy or muscle building) that exceeds the elasticity of the skin.Stretch marks occur in the dermis, the middle layer flexible helps skin retain its shape. N grooves are formed whenever there is support in the dermis. Stretching plays a major role in where the marks occur and in what direction they run. Stretching alone is not the case.

very nice information.I agree with you.I am overweight and have stretchmarks as well. i heard that applying pure vitamin e oil help get rid of/reduce the look of stretchmarks. You can either buy the vitamin e pills and pop them open, or what i did I went to target and bought a bottle of origin soothing vitamin E oil.

Everyday after a shower, i would rub a couple droplets onto the areas. Not only will it make your skin irresistibly smooth, you'll also notice within a few days that the stretchmarks are slightly fading off.

It'll take a while for them to completely disappear (for me, it took about 2 months to notice a huge difference), but it's an efficient way to lighten your stretchmarks.

You can get specific oils to reduce the appearance of stretch marks - have you tried one of those? They are rather expensive mind!
