Every person must have thought at least twice that “Is Caffeine Good for Health?” while dosing that extra cup of coffee or tea. Caffeine is the nervous system stimulator that is present in coffee and tea. Hence, we call them refreshing drinks. Caffeine is basically a xanthine alkaloid. Friedrich Ferdinand Runge, in 1819 discovered it from the coffee and named it as Kaffeine that became caffeine in English. The content of the Caffeine is more in the coffee than in the tea. It has been noted that similar amount of coffee in comparison to tea contains double the amount of caffeine.

The debate is still ongoing and is never ending about the Caffeine. Some research studies suggest that caffeine is good for the health, whereas other suggests that Caffeine is harmful to the health. I just tried to know that what side of bridge I should stand in this debate. I believe that anything in excess is not good for the health and same is the case with the caffeine. If you take Caffeine in limit it will benefit your health and if you take Caffeine in excess then it will lead to adverse effects on your health. So, do remember this point always when you dose extra coffee or tea.

The intake of the Caffeine in limited amount benefits your health by keeping your sugar levels in control, thus avoiding the chances of suffering with the diabetes. Caffeine also reduces the body fats and helps you to maintain the weight. It promotes the blood supply to the brain and improves your thinking power, thus called as psychoactive stimulant drug.

Some studies even suggest s it as the anticancer treatment, but yet the use is not being confirmed. These all are the health benefits of Caffeine. For this we can conclude that Caffeine is good for health, but only when taken in moderate amount. Two cups of coffee is really healthy.

Hi johnfitz,
I too have been looking at caffeine studies for the past few decades, I confess I love my espresso of a morning, with a view to forming some resemblance to balance of positive/negative outcomes for caffeine. Most of the debate is emotionally charged with personal bias as the driver, so you can ignore any of them.

Here is a podcast that appeared on HealthCastle some time ago that has some very informative research and educated opinion, which is pretty hard to find, there is plenty of opinion but not much of it is educated opinion.

By the way I enjoyed your sensible approach to this topic.
