Could you please tell me how much magnesium to take with 1200 mg. of calcium taken twice a day?
JonB
In reality you need to take a 1:1 ratio of Magnesium with Calcium. I just wonder why you are taking so much calcium?
Gloria
depending on your age and gender, the recommended dosage of calcium is 1000mg - 1300mg per day for healthy adults. as for magnesium, again depending on your age and gender, the DRI is 240mg - 440 mg per day. so perhaps do some math on how much dairy u r eating as well as check the labels of your supplements.

hope it helps.

Sorry Gloria I have to disagree,. The RDI of vits and minerals as produced by health authorities is so far off its not funny. Check www.mercola.com. The lastest research from the NATURAL world is a 1:1 ratio of mag and calcium. It is alao now proven that you dont get calcium from pasturised/hommoginised milk, in fact it reduces you calcium by approx 1%., and also its not calcium that makes bones, its magnesium. Most of the RDI's produced by the scientific community comes with suspect research paid for by many drug companies.

If you are going to eat/drink dairy make raw. Its much healthier than all the pasturised/homogised rubbish that is sold in the shops and many people with dairy allergies find they can have raw milk with no ill effects. There are many farmers out there willing to sell raw milk as they have been drinking it for ever. Hiijaki seaweed has about 10x the amount of calcium you get from milk.
Cautions: In July 2004, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a warning on its website advising people not to eat hijiki because of the high level of inorganic arsenic that it contains. The FSA is not intending to ban the product. Clearspring responded by temporarily withholding distribution while they reviewed the situation. They have resumed distribution following the publication of the Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare's response saying that it is safe to eat hijiki as part of a balanced diet as it has been eaten in Japan for centuries.
Calcium can't be absorbed without magnesium.[/i]
