Full Version: Colitis diet?

I have just recently been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, and have been unable to find much information regarding diet. I was told roughly what to avoid-caffine, high fibre, alchohol, sugar, and dairy, but I find that compiling a 'safe' diet is difficult. Lactose is difficult to avoid, and certain foods I thought would be acceptable cause discomfort, while others illicit an even more pronounced response. Is there any web site that might shed some light on what is safe to eat-especially during periods of relapse?
