hi all, does anyone of you eat yogurt? if so, which brand(s) do u eat and why? i'm quite overwhelmed by the various kinds of yogurt - low-fat, low sugar, light, active etc.

i usually eat the danone mousse cos i like the taste. but i'm not sure if that's a good one.

any input?
Gloria
this could be a very good topic to write about!!!

i like any yogurt that is low-fat. personally i don't like the taste of artificial sweeteners so i'm not a big fan of low sugar or low carb ones. i also like dannon's mousse too as a treat laugh.gif

here in England it is available in most supermarkets morrisons and somerfields both stock it , and Asda have also started stocking it, i have started to buy organic fresh skimmed milk now as well, at one time i could only get semi-skimmed so i am glad that i can now get skimmed as well, i have always had skimmed but could never get organic so things are looking better in the diary organic range .

any differences btween yogurt and yogurt drink? or just the liquid form make them look different? smile.gif because my fren here really had problem with constipation when it comes to yogurt drink..
Gloria
hi dafnia, this is really the first time i hear about yogurt and constipation. if the yogurt or yogurt drink contains active bacterial culture, it should actually help constipation, not aggravate it. but i'm not too sure how they make yogurt drinks in ukraine so i can't really comment about that smile.gif

Hi everyone , Yes I eat yogurt and my usual brand is Dannon but I like to make my own at home whenever I can and I use Dannon yogurt as a culture . I make my yogurt with 1% lowfat milk or skim milk and add instant nonfat dried milk to it . I bring the milk to a boil then remove it from the burner and wait until the milk has cooled to 110 degrees then I add 1/2 cup of Dannon plain yogurt to each quart of milk and stir the milk until the yogurt is completely mixed in with the milk . After I finish blending the yogurt with the milk I pour it into 1/2 pint glass jars and seal the lid tightly and place the jars in an ice chest with enough 115 degree hot water to be even with the top of the jars lids and shut the ice chest and let the yogurt set overnight . I remove the yogurt the next morning and let it cool before putting it in the refrigerator . I eat yogurt with fresh fruit mixed in to help my digestion and aid in preventing me from getting prostate cancer again . I like home made yogurt best because it is thicker than store bought yogurt and if I want to sweeten it I add either Honey or Splenda then add what ever kind of fruit I am craving at the time . biggrin.gif I find that Dannon and Yoplait yogurt have the most active cultures for making my own yogurt ! tongue.gif

um.......nothing tastes as good as home made stuff!!!! thanks for sharing your recipe!!! since i have made my original post, i have tried so many brands of yogurt with active cultures!! organic / inorganic - u name it!!! i have to say, i prefer the local organic yogurt now - they just taste so much like yogurt (not like pudding or dessert). i hope it's not psychological smile.gif
