hi turnip! my mom indeed asked me this question before!!! what a coincidence.

the omega 3 from salmon is thought to be beneficial to heart health. canned salmon is usually made from wild salmon; and wild salmon usually contains less fat (i.e. also less omega 3) than farmed salmon. also there are many types of salmon like atlantic salmon and sockeye. their contents of omega 3 are slightly different too. however the difference is rather insignificant. personally i would go for wild salmon anytime! fish in general contains less saturated fat and more beneficial omega 3. so if you are eating fish to replace other meats, you are already doing your heart a favor, regardless of canned or fresh smile.gif
