sad.gif Im 36 years old and 3 months ago I had a desmoid tumor removed. It was attatched to some of my my colon and small intestine which had to be taken out and resectioned. I have been battleing chronic diarehha ever since. I hear many things from many people and I dont know who to believe. I need to change my diet but to what? Hi fiber ? Low fiber? No dairy vs. Dairy. What to do? I am tired of using medications like Immodium AD.

Hi there

Sorry to hear about your surgery, but at least they found it early and you are not in any danger now smile.gif

I have done a quick search and these are some sites I have come up with for you. Do some research on these sites and also do some of your own, but only read stuff from that is authentic and comes from medical sites, etc.

http://patients.uptodate.com/topic.asp?file=digestiv/4974 (not sure about the validity of this one, but it looks ok)
http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dpd/parasites/di...ic_diarrhea.htm
http://www.gi.org/patients/gihealth/diarrheal.asp
http://www.gicare.com/pated/ecdgs28.htm
http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_...v48/ai_14674726

If you have the inclination, you could also visit a naturopath, who can give you nutritional advice and herbs to take, which could be an effective treatment for your diarrhoea.

Also, remember that diarrhoea reduces your electrolyte balance (these are the minerals sodium, potassium and chloride), which means, firstly your doctor should tell you to get an electrolyte balancer. This is different to the actual medication you are on (imodium) which tries to stop the diarrhoea.

Here is the site for immodium: http://www.imodium.com/

Good luck
