Does anyone know about starting a nutrition program for someone trying to stop using drugs? I can elaborate if this is something you're knowledgeable in. I'm talking about a complete program including anything and everything from vitamins, minerals, amino acids, diet, to a moderate exercise program, or even hypnosis or holistic treatments. The major concern I would have would be FATIGUE and getting the energy needed to exchange for the results of the drug being used. There is also hypothyroidism involved. Is this something you could possibly advise on or direct me elsewhere.

Hi there

Not sure if I sent these links as well, so check them out:

I have done some research using a few different combinations of search terms, but found that the following gave me the best results in google (you can also try MSN and Yahoo, as you will get different results in there and view different sites):

drug addiction nutrition

Hope that helps and good luck with everything!! Just make sure you research well and dont choose some dodgy centre that offers the world and cannot deliver on anything...

By the way, if you do have diagnosed hypothyroidism.... that means you'll probably be prescribed synthroid or whatever drug they call it... you need to be careful with the amino acid tyrosine and the minerals selenium and iodine, as they also affect they thyroid and as I am not your doctor (nor any type of medical professional, just research a lot), you need to speak to your doctor about taking the conventional medicine for hypothyroidism and also taking these nutrients, as they could be counter-productive and produce hyperthyroid symptoms (because you're taking too much). If, on the other hand, you think you are hypothyroid, you need to make sure if its properly diagnosed!!

Just talk to a doctor and also natural practitioner initially, if you can, because they are the best to advise you on what you want. Then, try to find some forums specifically on the two things that are your concerns - thyroid and drug addiction - as you will be able to find the support you need there, with people giving you their experiences to help and support you with yours.

I can understand if you may not have the money to see a doctor and nutritional adviser and that is why you are turning to the internet, but if you can get some together, and see them at least initially, it will give you so much more than just the internet. They know exactly what you are going through, as they are experienced in this area and can give you good advice about what you need to do in order to get better. There are medical and alternative health treatment centres everywhere, so they may be your best first of point contact, as they have doctors and natural health advisers too. The links I have shown above are for the USA, but you can modify them to add whatever country you are from smile.gif

Good on you for trying to get off the drugs!! It's a difficult path, but one which will be worth so much when you are off them and can feel stronger and healthier (and happier)!!

Ciao

i think for the rahb patients, they need to have a very carefully planned diet.their body's system is fragile and they need all the more nutrients and essential foods to build up a stronger metabolism
