Hi,
I just heard on the news tonight that we should be eating a lot more vegi's than we are eating now. I'm not a big fan of some vegi's so am wondering about trying new recipes and new vegi's. Anyone out there have suggestions for a good cookbook. Thanks, Julie

hello julie
i'm not really sure about cookbooks but what i can suggest is that maybe you can search through the net for recipes and new vegi's. infact, there's so many sites that provide you with all kinds of recipes from around the world. just a suggestion..

Hi Jewels, you may find many recipes online. I personally do not have recipe books just on vegetables, but I have a few good vegetarian cookbooks which I often use. I am not a vegetarian myself, but I love adding meat to the recipes taken from the vegetarian cookbooks. I found that vegetarin cookbooks are often more creative and use a lot of new and ethnic ingredients. If you wish to have a "classic" vegetarian recipe book, I can recommend 2 books from the following:
http://www.healthcastle.com/nubook_veg.shtml
The 2nd book "Moosewood Cookbook" and the 4th book "Simple Vegetarian". The recipes from the Moosewood book are often quick and easy whereas the recipes from Simple Vegetarian book are very creative but may not be always quick.
Hope it helps.

Hi Julie,
These are the main titles on my bookshelf:
Classic Vegetarian Cooking by Rose Elliot, published by Dorling Kindersley Limited, London,1994, ISBN 950-15-1410-2
Indian Vegetarian Cooking by Sumana Ray, published by Quintet Publishing Limited, London 1984, ISBN 3-8290-4798-8
The 30-minute vegetarian, by David L. Scott, published by Century Hutchinson Ltd., 1986, ISBN 84-270-1447-3
Vegetarian Pasta Cookbook, by Sarah Maxwell, published by Quintet Publishing Limited, London, 1994, ISBN 1-85076-507-3
The essential vegetarian cookbook, by K?nemann Verlagsgesellschaft mbH, published by Murdoch Books, 1996, ISBN 3-89508-550-2
I have made up this collection with some patience over the years and found all of these in Chilean bookstores, so if you live in an English-speaking country they should be a lot easier to come by.
Good luck!

Gee, thanks Achi. Those look like good cookbooks and will go to the bookstores and look them over.

Achi,
I had a chance to check out one of the books you suggested while I was at the local bookstore. It was a good one. Thanks!

Which one did you find, Bowmah? And the next question is - did you buy it??

Actaully, I just checked my notes, it was not one of the ones you suggested but I did find other books by Rose Elliot, the same author as one of books you suggested. It was called "Vegetarian Four Seasons".
No, I did not buy, it. I spent an afternoon drinking coffee and reading it at the local bookstore. Since they have big couches, I assume they allow this.

Pretty soon, I hope to have some recipies on
www.cancertips.org.
I'll let you know when I do.
Someone was supposed to send me a book she wrote (she being a doctor) - and she gave me permission to pull what ever I wanted from the book to post onto the website. It is written specifically as a nutrition cook book.

Hello Julie
I have used these cook books on a regular basis.
"Survival of the Fittest" & "Survival from the fittest".
These two books are published by the Australian Institute of Sport and it's the recipes that the athletes eat when staying at the institute.
There are many vege recipes in them and they make your mouth water just looking at them.
I hope that this is some help.
Good luck with your meal search.
Cheers
Matt
