Hi
I'm 50 years old, 220lbs and have excercised off and on since I was 20 years. I've got a resting heart rate of 54 bpm but by the Mass Body Index I'm obese. I think I'm moderately fit and I think I'm carrying a bit of excess fat but am I obese??

I'm not the expert here by any means, but I think that if we knew your height, that would help us make a better guess.

BMI does not work for some people. Especially it seems if you are short. I have been doing at least an hour of physical activity a day for the last 3 years. I eat very healthy, and work hard to stay healthy in other aspects of my life.

BMI has said I am obese and such for a long time. It is only recently when I lost about 20+lbs on a diet that I even read in the normal range. Not to say that I am unhealthy now, but I was just as healthy before I lost the weight. My body type is ordinarily stocky, so BMI does not work for me. Now that I have gotten more slim it works, but not too well. I am still close according to its calculations. Remember it is a generic measurement and only your doctor can tell if you are overweight. Dont base your habits off of your BMI.
