Hi all! I am searching information for diabetic in renal disease, such as acute and chronic renal failure. What is the diet suitable for people with both diabetes and renal disease? What nutritional advices should we give to them? Is there any linkage betweem diabetes and renal disease and as a result, we can manage these two disease together? Thanks for sharing....

Hi Rachel Lee,
Kidney failure is often caused by unchecked diabetes, characterised by excessive sugar in the blood stream.
If you look at foods with a low glycaemic index, obtainable from any diabetes association, you can work out a diet. Sugary drinks have just been implicated in insulin resistance by Paul Jacques DSc- Professor of Clinical Nutrition at Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Centre on Aging - at Tufts University. Foods with a low Glycaemic index are slowly absorbed into the bloodstream.
Hope this helps John Bobbin BNat
