I recently read on healthcastle.com that the FDA approved the following health claim:

3g to 12g soluble fiber from psyllium seed husk when included as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease

Does anyone know if this is true? If so, where can I find information that the FDA really did approve this claim?

hi kingmike, the link below should take you to the FDA Talk Paper. The claim was approved in 1998.

hope it helps.

the food manufacturer usually fills in the dosage amount as per the product's content. there is a minimum requirement, certainly, in order to make the claim.

for a summary of all FDA approved claims, you may go here
