Xylitol, the "miracle" bacteria killer.
I have been researching this sugar substitute for some time and am now confused.
During the war years Finland made artificial sugar from birch bark as normal sugar was unavailable. Many years after the war it was noticed that they had virtualy no teeth problems. Tests were done on Xylitol and it was found to line surfaces with a "teflon like" coating on which bacteria cannot cling and thus get flushed out.
This also applies to the colon.
Ad says "Get rid of bad colon bacteria forever and never get gut problems"
What about the good bacteria? Will they also get flushed out?
I tried this and since have had this bloating feeling.

Hi Marco,
The only decent research I could find on Xylitol was on comparison of tooth caries in "The American Dental Association".

The University of Michigan had this

I couldn't find anything that suggested even remotely that it was this good. Can you post some abstracts mate?
