Hi all, I am starting a new meal plan and I would like some innovative ideas.

Basically I am trying to reduce the amount of simple carbs in my plan but I get fairly hungry throughout the day. I have to eat once every two hours or else I get this bubble of gas in my mid GI that makes causes great discomfort.

What suggestioins of snacks do you have that isn't too acidic and won't give me too many empty calories? I already eat about 6 servings of fruit/vegs each day. I am lactose intolerant as well dairy snacks are pretty much out of the picture (lactase is just too expensive for daily consumption!)

thanks

yes, basically in the last 3 yrs my metabolism has slowed down and coupled with some bad habits has made me gain a bit of a belly. The snacking has really mess me up and I haven't been the same since.

Hi Saltywet,
What is your BMI now? If you are close to your ideal weight it is harder to lose the last bit. Remember you burn up 62 calories per mile per 100 lbs body weight whether you run, walk or crawl so you have to add greater distance to achieve more. Some foods are supposed to increase your rate of metabolism such as chillies, garlic etc, if you continually move as in fidgeting etc you also burn more calories.
In order to stop hunger you need to have a small amount of protein with each meal and this can be a slice of smoked salmon, chicken, turkey or whatever. Protein and increased body temperature reduce satiety so you wont feel hungry so often.
