Nutrition Month 2009:
How To Dress Up Your Plain Water

We all know that drinking water is important for good health. Carrying nutrients and oxygen to our cells, protecting our organs and tissues, and regulating our body temperature are just some of water's many functions.

Many of us know that we need to be drinking more water, and have heard of the recommendation to have eight- 8 oz glasses a day, but what if you simply don't care for the taste? Or are weary of artificially sweetened bottled water?

A quick and easy solution is creating your own "Spa Water."

Adding cut up fruits or vegetables to a container of ice water makes for a refreshing drink. Cucumbers, orange, berries or melons of any variety are great ways to naturally add flavor. You can even bottle it to take it with you for on-the-go hydration. And best of all, it is virtually calorie-free (even if you decide to eat some of the fruits or vegetables!)
